It's hard to believe the summer is over -- especially when it's supposed to be 85 degrees all week! But fall is definitely upon us. We've got a few leaves down already, though nothing compared to the deluge I'm expecting from all those maple trees. Saturday, we took the boys to one of their favorite places: the hardware store, where we bought some rakes and a saw to get ready for some fall maintenance. This was a pretty low-key weekend. Except for a couple of runs to various stores (hardware, grocery) we stayed home and had a pretty good time just hanging out.
Many of you have wondered lately: What's up with the house? Did you just stop working on it? Is it done yet, or what? It's a slow process. We started the playroom a few weeks ago, then discovered that we had a more pressing concern in the basement, where water seepage was causing everything down there to start moldering. So we had to shift our focus down there (I won't include pictures; it's not a pretty sight). But yesterday we were back to work on the playroom. I started painting the ceiling while the boys napped, then Liam woke up and wanted to watch the proceedings. After the ceiling was finished, the boys helped me sand down all the patches to get the walls ready to be painted. Liam started helping, then he showed Max what to do and they both really got into the spirit of things. Slowly but surely, the house is coming along.
