a day in the sun

This morning Barb and Kevin took us to Lido Beach, their favorite of the Sarasota beaches, and the boys got to take their first dip in the Gulf of Mexico. (To be fair, it was the first time for their parents, too.) The sun was shining, and the water was perfect. I took my underwater camera, and we played around with it and got some pretty good shots -- Liam took the one of Mike, and in my opinion, it's the best one of the day. We did some shell hunting with limited success (most of the cool shells we found were really tiny) but mostly we just enjoyed hanging out together and playing in the water.

After the beach, we spent the afternoon napping and swimming in the pool and just generally spending time together, then Mike and Kevin grilled some burgers and sausages for dinner. After that, Mike and I decided to go out and watch the sunset, and Liam and Max came with us. We went to the Celery Fields, a wildlife and bird-watching area, and the views were pretty great. We also ran into a police officer looking for "two juveniles with BB guns," but thankfully we didn't run into the juveniles.

While we were off at the Celery Fields, Henry opted to stay behind with Grandma and Grandpa. Kevin took him on a golf cart ride around the neighborhood, and Henry took some pretty good pictures of birds he spotted along the way. All in all, a pretty great way to spend a Sunday.
