bike the drive!

Unlike last year, we had plenty of sunshine for Bike the Drive. Maybe a little too much sunshine. The first 45 minutes or so were cool and peaceful, and then the sun came up and whoosh! We rode into a giant wall of heat. Everyone around us was making surprised noises too, so it wasn't just us. From that point on, it was a pretty hot ride. We even got to meet up with Mark, Katie, Linus, and Leo at the south stop on the lawn of the Museum of Science and Industry and ride the last leg with them, which was really nice.

Speaking of nice, this time we stayed at a fancy-pants hotel right in Millennium Park! It's probably the only night we will spend sans kids (unless we get unexpectedly lucky in the babysitting department) for the whole year, so we made the most of it by going out to dinner and meeting my Aunt Chris and Uncle Bob for drinks the night before the ride. Chris and Bob rode too, which made us feel like our years of talking this event up to anyone and everyone may finally have paid off. Now I'm looking for another fun ride to do this summer, hopefully with Bethany, my Aunt Janis, and cousin Dylan, and whoever else I can persuade to come along!
